About the Albion Fire Department:
The Albion Fire Department operates out of one
station and protects a district made up of commercial, residential and
agricultural buildings in the Village of Albion, Town of Albion and Town
of Gaines in central Orleans County, New York. Our fire protection
district covers approximately 62.8 sq. miles with an approximate (2000
US Census) population of 19,220 individuals. The Albion Fire Department
provides firefighting, EMS (BLS level), hazardous materials response, an
off road rescue team, a R.I.C., fire prevention and water rescue.
In 2008, the Albion Fire Department received 735
requests for assistance.
The Albion Fire Department is 100% volunteer.
There are several organizations within the Albion
Fire Department that provides specific support to the fire department:

The Albion Emergency Squad has a full compliment of
Hurst Rescue equipment and Air Bags available.
Ø
The Albion Fire Department Fire Police Unit responds
to provide traffic control and scene containment.
Ø
Explorer Post 674 provides young people, ages 14 to
18, with the opportunity to learn what it takes to become a
Firefighter. They provide valuable Fire Ground Support.
Ø
The Ladies Auxiliary provides support during major
incidents and fund raising projects. They also provide a college
scholarship to Albion High School seniors who are Explorer Post members
or students related to members of AFD. |
